About The Program

We’re looking for aspiring product managers to help us build the future of media and technology. As a continuation of the historic Yahoo APM program, Oath now offers APMs an even larger product portfolio and opportunities for impact.

Two Years, Two Teams

Over the course of two years, you will drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for two different teams.

APM Trip

Between rotations, you will travel with fellow APMs to intimately learn how to build global products.

Mentorship and Resources

Hone your product leadership skills by meeting regularly with senior product leaders and executive coaches. You'll also participate in planned activities such as book clubs, tech conferences, and social events.

Selena Shang

Associate Product Manager (APM '17)

In her first rotation, Selena launched Yahoo Mail’s first progressive web app as well as their first location-based experiences. She also filed a patent for delivering geo-targeted, personalized content based off a user’s inbox.

Becca Steier

Senior Product Manager (APM '16)

In her second rotation, Becca focused on new video experiences and user growth for the Yahoo Sports app. Most recently, she brought NFL live streams to the app to support a groundbreaking deal with the NFL to stream all preseason, regular, and playoff games.

Avinash Chukka

Principal Product Manager (APM '14)

As an APM, Avinash worked on reimagining tools for small businesses and messaging experiences. He now is a Principal Product Manager on the innovative ad formats team, and recently launched the Gemini app to accelerate Oath’s global sales teams.

Matt Edelman

Director of Product Management (APM '13)

Since graduating from Yahoo's first class of APMs, Matt has led teams building video creation tools and consumer media products across the Yahoo ecosystem. Matt now leads product for Entertainment at Oath including brands like Yahoo Entertainment, Yahoo Lifestyle, and BUILD.

Frequently Asked Questions

Over the course of two years, you will drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for two different teams.

The program ranges in size from four to 10+ but there is no formal limit.

We’ve had APM roles in all corners of Oath from Sunnyvale to San Francisco to New York, across products like Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Mail, Gemini, Tumblr, Verizon Digital Media Services, and Huffington Post. Oath APMs have driven mobile app releases, defined innovative advertising formats, and owned or improved platforms that users rely on every day.

New APMs attend a series of product and leadership sessions to learn best practices from the start. APMs are also assigned mentors and can establish their own cadence, depending on the type of mentorship they are looking for. A couple examples of your assigned mentors include an APM in the class above you and a senior level product director on a team other than yours.

At a high level, APMs have strong technical understanding, product sense, analytical ability, and clear interpersonal communication capability. We look for candidates that are graduating this school year, or who with less than 2 years of full-time working experience.

New APMs share their preferences for factors like product area, product maturity, managerial style, and team size with the APM Program Director, who will then assign rotations based on those factors. APMs entering their 2nd rotation have the opportunity to meet with teams before directly before choosing their roles.

After completing both rotations, APMs will find a permanent home on one of the teams they rotated through or on another team of interest.

Oath, a subsidiary of Verizon, is the parent entity of Yahoo, AOL, Tumblr, HuffPost, and dozens of other brands. Within Oath, APMs are now able to work on a wider portfolio of products across brands previously separate from the Yahoo network. Further, we are vertically integrated from concept to mobile distribution given Verizon’s strategic position as a carrier. With emerging technology from VR to AI and distribution from 5G to IoT, we're creating exciting new ways to captivate audiences across the globe.

Here are some things we like to do together: (1) Book club: APMs lead a monthly book club. The topics range from typeface design to why startups succeed or fail. (2) Associates-wide events: In addition to the APM Program, Oath also has Associates programs in design and engineering. We have a quarterly social event where we can learn from and have fun with our peers. (3) Informal: anything from coffee chats to smoothie bar meetups (we highly recommend the strawberry banana), checking out the goats behind our Sunnyvale campus, cataloging drinks in your preferred drink-logging app with a social media twist)

In the 1st year of the program, all APMs work in the Sunnyvale office. After that, they are generally free to choose rotations outside of Sunnyvale.
